The first thing people notice about you is your face. Glowing, radiant skin gives off that lit from within glow that makes us look like we have spent summers tanning in the south of France and winters skiing in Switzerland. To maintain this dewy look throughout the year, we mix up our beauty routine with the following three masks.
After a particularly stressful week, we have noticed that our skin mirrors the tension we experienced during the day. To calm down our skin, we whip up this refreshing mask.
- 1 cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup coconut oil
- ¼ cup milk
- ¼ teaspoon tea tree oil
- 1 tablespoon vitamin E oil
Microwave the brown sugar, coconut oil, and milk until liquefied and mix in the vitamin E oil and tea tree oil. Gently coat your face with the mask and let it absorb into your skin for 10-15 minutes. You skin will feel cool, light, and refreshed.
It is important to note that while tea tree oil is an antimicrobial and causes blemishes to gradually diminish, it should never be applied directly to your skin. In small amounts, tea tree oil shows promise in keeping skin clear, but with direct contact or in large amounts, tea tree oil can do more harm than good.
Banana Mousse Mask
When we notice that our skin feels a little dry and not as supple as we would like, we make this banana mousse mask. Leaving this on for 10-15 minutes makes our face feel soft and hydrated. With ingredients found in most kitchens, this mask is certainly one of the more accessible at-home beauty treatments you can master.
- 1 fresh banana (mashed)
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon water
- ½ tablespoon honey
- ½ tablespoon all-purpose flour
Rice Flour and Honey Mask
Exfoliate your skin with this natural mask that brightens dull skin. Before you make this mask, you should know that it must not be used around the delicate eye area or on irritated skin. We highly advise that you apply the mask in gentle circular motions. Rubbing harshly will cause redness and irritation, so treat your face like a delicate doll.
- 2 tablespoons rice flour
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 tablespoon plain yogurt
Mix the ingredients together and leave on for 15-20 minutes. You will notice that your skin looks instantly brighter. We use this mask twice a week and adore how it illuminates our skin.
