Natural Makeup

Yesterday, I told a friend that I was tired of wearing makeup. I don’t wear a lot of makeup, but when I do, I prefer a more natural look. My best friend is a prominent beauty writer in the UK, and she told me that I should use natural makeup to get that fresh, youthful look. Here are two recommendations…

100% Pure is my new favorite beauty brand. Every ingredient is natural, and I love that the company uses fruits and vegetables as dyes. My blush uses dried raspberries and my tinted moisturizer is dried apricots! How fantastic that a natural makeup brand exists and that it actually looks good. The one downside is that it does not provide the most color or coverage, so keep that in mind before you switch out your brands.

Tarte is committed to keeping its line of products as clean and free of chemicals as possible. While it is not completely natural, it is the most mainstream brand to use clay, minerals, and natural pigments rather than synthetic materials. The foundation and tinted moisturizer leave my skin feeling light, and I adore the light amount of coverage. The lip products add a beautiful color and don’t dry out my lips or make them feel overdone. If you want something with a bit more color, I suggest Tarte rather than 100% Pure.

While I have switched all of my makeup to 100% Pure and Tarte, I do enjoy the occasional makeup experience with a makeup artist and mainstream brands, such as Clinique, Bobbi Brown, and Chanel.
